OUR PURPOSE
SASSAFRAS LA's purpose is to bring the youth together in the restoration and preservation of Louisiana.

OUR EXECUTIVE TEAM
Our organization's driving forces, or our executive team, are five 11th through 12th grade students from South Lafourche High School in Galliano, Louisiana. Each of these students has a particular interest in this state, specifically because of family ties to the oil industry, oyster industry, marine industry, etc. Our roots are here; our passion for Louisiana runs deep.

OUR NAME: WHY "SASSAFRAS?"
Leaves of the sassafras tree are dried and ground into a fine, pungent powder called filé. Filé, a Cajun spice, and also the only native North American spice, is used to thicken or to add a finishing touch to Cajun foods.

In every project or event or endeavor, SASSAFRAS LA adds its own finishing touch and a unique filé pizazz.
